Bolting Ahead is a registered charity dedicated to building a truly inclusive society by creating sustainable, meaningful, and customised employment opportunities for young people living with a disability.

Founded in 2023 by Richard Holt and a team of passionate parents and community advocates, Bolting Ahead was established to challenge outdated approaches to disability employment and offer real-world pathways that recognise the strengths and potential of every individual.

In 2024, Bolting Ahead acquired Backyard Bolters - a grassroots lawn care business created by young people, for young people. Under Bolting Ahead’s leadership, the enterprise successfully transitioned to offer paid, permanent part-time employment to six young people with disabilities, setting a new benchmark for inclusive employment in action.

This success is only the beginning. Over the next three years, Bolting Ahead will expand its impact by launching a series of Academy to Microenterprise programs - innovative pathways that connect skill development with real employment in purpose-built social enterprises.
